Customer Service

My former boss said this so often, that within the organization it was abbreviated to "Give 'em bananas" and sometimes simply "Bananas."

Otherwise put, if the customer wants bananas, don't give them apples - or whatever you perceive them to want. It was a reminder that knowing the customer and simplifying the customer experience is essential to providing the warm fuzzies. It's a concept I have kept with me through the years.

And while every now and then you may hear me whisper "bananas," it is simply a testament to the timelessness of this maxim. Not because the customers are crazy.

Absolutely crazy.

"If the monkey wants bananas,

give the monkey bananas."
